Our programs are able to help people throughout Northeastern and North Central Iowa thanks to a host of organizations who provide support to Friends of the Family. 

On April 7, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Falls, we hosted our Spring fundraiser, Chefs Take a Stand. Our gracious emcee and good friend, Abby Turpin, kept us entertained and the night flowing smoothly while shinning light on the importance of supporting our work.

We had 5 chefs, a baker, and 5 beverage vendors that pleased the crowd of 250+. The guests voted and the NRG Best Dish Award went to Blue Barn BBQ! Chef Aaron Broshar created a Smoked Duck Ravioli with a bourbon demi-glace, crisp prosciutto, and fire-roasted tomato, finished with a Porcini mushroom powder. Yum! 

We were also able to recognize our Outstanding Community Partner Award - the Isle Hotel & Casino, and our Outstanding Community Supporter Award - the Cedar Falls Lions Club. Thanks for all you do to help make impact right here in our community.

Chefs Take a Stand raised over $24,000 from ticket sales, auction items, sponsorships, and donations! The proceeds from this event directly support our services of providing safe shelter and housing assistance to survivors of violence and individuals experiencing homelessness. Thank you to Abby, the Hilton Garden Inn, our donors, volunteers, and the FOF team!! Without you, none of this would have been possible!!
